Discover the secrets how to Teach A Cat with this fantastic course.

If asked the question 'How to train my cat to use the toilet' I will always start by telling the inquirer that I will first train myself. In other words I get into the habit of always doing - lid up, seat down.

I even go so far as to put up a little sign close to the toilet instructing this to prompt me and any visitors to the house. The cat will get used to viewing the toilet the way it is and accept it, if I find the seat in the upright position, I will close it. Anyway, that's not a step for the cat, so here are my 5 easy steps.

1. I move my cat's litter box into the bathroom. It does seem quite obvious really, but I do it gradually by shifting the litter box a little bit closer to the bowl.

2. When its beside the toilet, on a daily basis, I keep adjusting the litter tray by putting newspapers underneath it or even an old telephone directory until it gets to the same height as the bowl. Word of caution here, avoid using shiney cover magazines, these are too slippery and you can probably guess what happens! It might be a good idea to secure the tray to the stack in case the cat jumps straight up to and with the same end result.

3. I will start by moving the box over the toilet seat inch by inch . Again ever so slowly as the cat will not notice what is happening. Then when it is completely over the seat I step by step reduce the total amount of litter in the tray until there is only about 1inch left.

4. I exchange the litter box with a 'trainer'. What I mean here is to remove the box from over the bowl and put either a container of some sort fixed in place actually within the bowl or, cover the toilet bowl with wax paper, then I will drop down the seat & put out some flushable litter..

5. I convert the cat into only using the toilet. I cut an inch wide hole so the sounds from below will filter through then, again ever so gradually, I will keep enlarging the hole until the cat is just using the seat and gravity to balance. At the same time as widening the hole I reduce the amount of flushable litter until there is none. My cat is now toilet trained.

Some words of advice.

· Start slow. If I rush the cat it will only become confused increasing the chances of accidents, major or minor they are still a pain to clean up!. Its best to wait until the cat is comfortable before we start moving forward again.

· Believe it or not, some cats are not at ease doing their number 2s on top of number 1s so I always try to flush after the cat urinates.

· I always give a little treat as reward for the cat.

There we are; how to toilet teachmy cat in 5 easy to complete steps. Easy, straightforward, lots of fun for you and the cats.
